How to Make Ur Perfume Last Longer: 9 Expert Tips

There is a particular kind of disappointment: u spray ur favourite fragrance in the morning, and by lunch it has quietly left the room. Before blaming the perfume, know this. Longevity is only partly about the bottle. The rest is skin, technique, storage and a little science.

Here are nine habits that make a real difference, whatever u wear.

1. Start with hydrated skin

Fragrance clings to moisture. Dry skin absorbs scent and lets it evaporate fast, while hydrated skin holds it longer. After showering, apply an unscented body lotion or a thin layer of balm on the spots u will perfume. A scented lotion is fine only if it belongs to the same family as ur perfume.

2. Spray the pulse points

The wrists, the sides of the neck, behind the ears and the inner elbows run warmer, and warmth helps a fragrance open up and breathe. Two to four sprays across these points is usually plenty for an eau de parfum.

3. Stop rubbing ur wrists together

It is a habit almost everyone has, and it is the one to drop. Friction breaks down the delicate top notes and flattens how the scent develops. Spray, then let it dry on its own.

4. Spray from a little distance

Hold the bottle about 15 to 20 cm from ur skin. A wider mist settles evenly instead of soaking one spot, which gives a smoother, longer trail.

5. Choose notes built to last

Not every ingredient has the same staying power. Citrus and light fruity notes are brilliant but fleeting. Amber, woods, vanilla, musk, leather and resins sit lower and last longer on skin. If longevity matters most, look for a rich base. Our Awakening (amber, labdanum, sandalwood) and Unfold (leather, patchouli, sandalwood) are built on exactly that kind of foundation.

6. Layer instead of repeating

Layering gives a scent more depth and more hours. Pair a fragrance with a companion that shares a note, like vanilla or musk, and each one holds the other up. We wrote a full guide on how to layer perfumes.

7. Perfume hair and clothes with care

Fabric and hair hold fragrance for a long time. Mist a brush and run it through ur hair, or spray a scarf from a distance. Because rich ingredients like amber and vanilla can mark light-coloured fabrics, test on a small hidden area first and avoid silk and delicate materials.

8. Store it like something precious

Heat, light and humidity are the enemies of every fragrance. A bathroom shelf or a sunny windowsill, or a hot car, will age a perfume quickly. Keep the bottle in its box, in a cool, dark, dry place. In a warm climate like ours, this alone can change how long a bottle stays beautiful.

9. Do not trust ur nose after an hour

Here is the quiet truth: ur nose gets used to a scent. After a while u stop smelling it even though others still do. It is called olfactory fatigue, and it makes people over-spray. Instead of adding more, carry a travel size and refresh once, lightly, later in the day. That is exactly why we made the Du Charm, a small way to keep ur 10 ml close wherever u go.

Long-lasting is not about more sprays. It is about a better foundation.

How long should a fragrance last?

An eau de parfum typically carries a higher concentration of fragrance oils than an eau de toilette, which is why it usually lasts longer. With good technique, most Par'Du fragrances stay with u for roughly 6 to 10 hours, though skin chemistry changes everything. Ur skin is part of the recipe.
